How Gua Sha Can Help Scar Tissue
- Improves circulation around the area, which may support healing.
- Breaks down adhesions (tight, stuck tissue) over time with gentle, consistent work.
- Increases mobility in the skin and fascia, helping the area feel less tight.
- Reduces stiffness if the scar is causing restriction.
Important Guidelines
- Only treat fully healed scars — closed, smooth, and no scabs.
- Avoid new, red, inflamed, or painful scars.
- Use light pressure at first; too much can worsen sensitivity.
- Apply a slip agent (oil or balm) to avoid dragging the skin.
Best Technique for Scar Tissue
- Gentle slow strokes along the scar (not across) to start.
- Once the scar is more mobile, add light strokes across the scar line.
- Work for 1–3 minutes, 3–4 times per week.
Scars it may help with
- Acne marks
- Surgical scars (once fully healed)
- Injury scars (healed)
- C-section scars (after medical clearance)
