Description
Copper Mask is a self-sterilizing layered cloth mask with the highest level of protection to bacteria, pollution and viruses
The mask not only blocks the virus but kills the virus going both to the wearer and away from the wearer .
The breathability of this mask is a key factor in its performance â it can be worn for hours without upsetting breathability when working, flying or sleeping.
How does the BioBlocX⢠Mask work?
BioBlocX⢠Mask materials use two mechanisms designed to deactivate microbes on the mask (or block microbes, if the mask fits tightly):
â The copper in BioBlocX⢠Masks work using a mechanism called metallo-protease, in which positive ions from the copper attach themselves to the backbone of the virus, thus deactivating virus duplication.
â BioBlocX⢠Masks also include a RESPILON® inner layer (the middle layer of the 5) which works in parallel via filtration of tiny particles.
What is the contact time of the virus on the material before it is deactivated?
It is the time it takes for the virus or droplet to pass through the first barrier.
How does this mask differ to the N95?
The BioBlocx masks have been developed for hospital acquired infections which means they kill all bacteria, all fungi, and all viruses. They do this for the life of the fabric.
The use of copper oxide as a powerful disinfectant is well known in the literature and well known to the FDA.
N95 masks are not meant to protect against disease, they are meant to filter out particles in the air. In the case of an N95 or FFP2 the mask is intended to filter out 95% of all particles larger than 1/3 of a micron. A bacteria is around 50X smaller and a virus is around 500Xs smaller.
In addition, while most viruses are located in droplets the problem is that they collect on and in the mask which allows them to proliferate on and in the mask. This means that the person wearing the mask is exposed to higher titter levels than pathogens in the air.
Sizes:
- Adult
- Youth, a slightly smaller version, is for petite adults/ladies and teenagers

How do you keep the mask clean? How many times can the mask be laundered?
In order to protect the nano fiber membrane in the mask, the mask should be washed as little as possible – this will keep it functioning for an extended period.
The fabrics from which the mask is made are designed to destroy microbes that they come in contact with. As such, unless the mask gets physically dirty it should not need washing.
If you feel that you must clean the mask, simply wipe it down from the inside and out with a soft, damp cloth and leave to dry.
If stained, hand wash gently in warm water.
The mask should not be laundered.
How is the washing performed?
There is a limit to the number of times you can wash the mask since the pores of the nano-fibre membrane will get blocked by salts and minerals naturally in the water. Since the mask is self-sterilizing it should only be washed if it gets physically dirty. It will NEVER have a negative odour. It is recommended to hand wash the mask with a gentle soap and warm water. If you can remove the stains externally with a soft wet cloth that would actually be better.
I have been using the masks for a few days and see light blue lines and stains on the mask. Should I be concerned?
There is no need for concern.
The moisture from your breath is reacting with some of the copper in the mask.
This process may leave discoloration.
When does the user know it is time to change the mask? In other words, when it is no longer safe to use it (after what time period).
The fabrics of the mask will retain their ability to kill bacteria and fungi that can harm the textile for the life of the fabric.
The weak point is always the nano-fibre membrane – you will know when the mask can no longer be used because the breathing in the mask will be not as easy as when the pores of the membrane are open. This should be a number of years.
Is the mask certified?
BioBlocX⢠is not NIOSH approved.
The active layers of BioBlocX⢠Mask are powered by EPA-registered material preservative and antimicrobial agent (registration #91367-1)
Fittng Instructions:
Instructions must be followed each time the face mask is worn. Before fitting mask, ensure hands are clean.
Facial hair may interfere with face mask fit.
1. Unfold mask by pulling out on chin until mask is fully open.
2. Place chin in the pocket and position the mask on the roof
of your nose.
3. Use your other hand to pull the elastic straps over the back
of your head.
4. Conform nose piece to nose and adjust position of elastic
straps for comfort.
5. Check fit. If air escapes around your nose, adjust the nose
piece. If air leaks at the edges, re-adjust chin and/or tension of
the elastic straps.
